Mummies, mummies and mummies- an appealing topic to all the directors around the world who want to show the world something dynamic and interesting. Mummies are not unfamiliar topics in the entertainment category. Throughout the last century, It has been used as a sign of evil in movies. A worldwide craze on mummies was started when the boy Pharaoh Tutankhamen's tomb was discovered. Mummies made their debut in the movie "The Mummy". This is a movie shot at 1932. It became a great hit and added spice to mummies. The role of the mummy was played by Boris Karloff (1887-1969), the infamous man who specially played the roles of monsters in movies. This sparked off a great deal of interest in mummies and ushered in the use of mummies in the entertainment industry. Mummies are portrayed as hideous creatures, which were awoken from the dead by certain spells or curses and start causing terror everywhere by movie directors and writers. They were shown as ruthless killers, which bore no passion for the living, and would only rest if a curse is complete (mostly resulting in someone getting slain) or itself getting destroyed. Only the fact that the mummies were once dead was true. Mummies are the well-preserved remains of the deceased, and definitely no curse or spells may awake them. Maybe one-day technology may revive them, but until then, living mummies is just a hoax. Nowadays, mummies have also been used in games. As always, they are portrayed as mindless creatures or minions of evil. The games often offer many a creative demise of those creatures. The movie industry still used the idea of mummies. But compared to the real mummies, the fact has been much perverted to provide entertainment. Mummies are definitely gaining international attentions now as people started getting interested in them and embalming methods. |
